First, Kodak NexPress is more like a platform than a press. You can start out with the entry level press and upgrade to the state of the art press in the field just by changing out components. It’s not a “forklift upgrade” but a platform upgrade.

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced the launch of Toshiba eXCHANGE, a social business network that, like Facebook or LinkedIN, will connect thousands of Toshiba professionals across the country, allowing them to easily share valuable information, build professional relationships and improve their ability to serve the needs of customers. Members can create their own profiles, access blogs containing product and program updates, view sales and education videos, rate content and search intelligently for tagged content of interest to them.

All of this must have the sheetfed litho folks worried. Heidelberg sold off their share of digital print patents to Kodak/Nexpress a few years back. (And Kodak struggles with the NexPress as well – they have an additional 17% reduction in workforce coming up for the NexPress divison and have abandoned the M700 digital press as a viable product).
