CS To Show New 4.25″ Eagle Inkjet Printing System at Print09

Gaithersburg, MD – MCS, Inc., the leader in industrial and mailing inkjet and camera systems, announces that it will be showing its new Eagle high speed inkjet printer at Print09. The system has innovative features never before found in a single-head design:

* 4.25″ print width – scalable up to 17″ with 4 heads.
* 600 DPI native resolution.
* Variable resolutions from 200×600, 300×600, 400×600 and 600×600 DPI.
* 500 feet per minute speeds at 300×600 DPI. 375 fpm at 400×600 DPI.
* 2″x8″ footprint. Small enough to fit in tight areas.
* Eco-friendly aqueous ink.

These features are suited to applications that demand high quality, wide print area and high speeds:

* Direct Mail.
* Add large graphics, maps – to increase response rates.
* Increase production rates 50% by printing addresses and IMB codes perpindicular and feed long-edge.
* Move printing of addresses and messaging “upstream” onto roll unwinders – for operations such as roll input to high-speed inserters.
* Barcodes and Numbering.
* Tags and labels and forms on flexographic or offset presses.
* Page Printing: Hybrid printing of the personalized content of direct mail letters.
* Catalogs: Personalized versions of catalogs requiring high quality.

Previous technology has been physically cumbersome, expensive, or required mechanical “stitching” of multiple printheads in order to achieve large print widths. Now, the MCS Eagle is the latest generation of inkjet printers to allow these features in an affordable modular fashion. With MCS Modular Designed Engineering it is possible to link up to four Eagle print modules together – either at time of purchase – or later when extra print width or spot colors are needed.

MCS is already known for its powerful and easy to use Array inkjet printers and software, and it is making the same software architecture available for the Eagle. Customers can add Eagle into their production environment with minimal transition.

MCS President and CEO, David Loos, commented on the philosophy used to develop the Eagle technology: “High speed, high resolution, wide inkjet systems have never before been available in a modular, compact and affordable form – to allow printers and mailers to use them in a variety of applications and on a multitude of transports.” Mr. Loos continued: “The modularity and expandibility of our Array product line has been the backbone of our success – and we are continuing that model with our Eagle 4.25″ products.”

While the system at Print09 will be showcasing aqueous black ink, this technology has the capability of spot color inks, MiCR inks – as well as CMYK.
